Akris. Fashion. selbstverständlich.
From 12 May 2023 until 24 September 2023, the exhibition Akris. Fashion. selbstverständlich at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich celebrates the house's centenary with a focus on the recent present and its unique savoir faire.
Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the artistically inspired universe of Albert Kriemler’s collections. Cultivating dialogue with other arts is part of the creative director’s signature style and has become a hallmark of Akris.

Visitors can appreciate the affinity between original artworks and Akris collections side by side for the first time. Works by Imi Knoebel (Spring/Summer 2021) and Carmen Herrera (Spring/Summer 2017), photo series by Thomas Ruff (Fall/Winter 2014), and architecture by Sou Fujimoto (Spring/Summer 2016), among others, are showcased next to the Akris designs.
The exhibition also provides insight into the unique savoir faire of the house as well as the uncommon excellence and complexity of the crafting that has always characterized Akris collections. What does a digital print, double-face or St. Gallen embroidery mean? How does the team experiment with horsehair, high-tech fabrics, and colors?
Slip into cashmere coats and literally grasp the different textiles and fabrics. Designing clothing that looks and feels effortlessly natural, self-evident, in short, “selbstverständlich”, is one of Akris’ most important concerns.
