For the Akris Spring/Summer 2021 Albert Kriemler was inspired by the German artist Imi Knoebel to create a collection that brings ease, fluidity of movement and a feeling of freedom, that is captured in every item, detail, and color.
“In abstract art, colors are used in a formal, ceremonial way. Knoebel`s colors, however, are extraordinarily sensual. I admire the way he always dares to develop new hues and to mix them in an unexpected way. He is not afraid to use them.” - Albert Kriemler
Five of Imi Knoebel’s grand paintings from 1998 and 1999, that are also the backdrop of the lookbook, inspire the main prints in the Akris Spring/Summer 2021 collection. “Ohayo”, “Zion”, “E.T.”, “Tiger Woods” and “Blue Angel” are a perfect example for Imi Knoebels extraordinary sense for color and his inimitable use of color and combination of unique hues, that he creates in his own color workshop.
These larger than life works radiate with positive energy and great joy. Translated into effortless daywear, this season’s printed silk and cotton ready-to-wear pieces as well as artful accessories featuring the colorful prints are sure to put a spring in your step.
