Albert Kriemler´s Akris Spring Summer 2019 celebrates the love of the game
“I love the light in her eyes” is what Albert Kriemler noticed when he first visited artist Geta Brǎtescu in Bucharest, Romania. At 91, she had only recently been acclaimed at some of the most renowned art events in the world, the Venice Biennale and at documenta 14. Light was everywhere when the collection debuted in “Le Préau”, as the gleaming late afternoon sun came out from the clouds just when the show started. As she sadly had passed away a few days before the show, the collection is one of the artist´s last projects and Albert Kriemler’s homage to her.
Friends of the House
H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco, a friend of the house, attended Albert Kriemler`s Akris Spring/Summer 2019 fashion show in Paris wearing an Akris black light lace turtleneck and flare skirt. Among the guests: Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto and Canadian artist Rodney Graham - both had inspired previous Akris collections -, as well as gallerists Marian Ivan from Bucharest and Ursula Hauser from Hauser & Wirth, Zurich.
“In Geta Brǎtescu, I met a woman full of light, life and humor.” Albert Kriemler
Testing the power of attraction
Models on the runway walked through towering magnet sculptures, a reference to Geta Brǎtescu’s masterpiece “Magnets”, which symbolizes the power of attraction. The collection featured a novel flat soleil plissé, a multitude of asymmetric hemlines, new skirt shapes and as a favorite pant for summer, shorts. Signature photoprints represented a new level of Albert Kriemler`s artistry of translating art works into a woman`s wardrobe. The season`s new accessory is the Anouk small day bag and the Lip and Eye charms and a new iPhone bag.
